Join us in Edinburgh for the 2015 IFDCO Conference. This conference is the perfect opportunity to network with day care providers from across the globe.
The four-day event will focus on Children's Rights, in particular the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. A variety of workshops and speakers will feature throughout the event to expand on this highly-topical subject.
Our main aim is to promote childminding as a quality childcare service. We do this in part by helping SCMA childminders to be the best they can be.
Around 80% of Scotland’s childminders are members of SCMA. SCMA gives our members a place to turn for help. We work with organisations such as the Care Inspectorate and HMRC to make sure our advice is accurate.
SCMA also influences change at government level to help make sure that new legislation fits our members’ needs.

Hello and welcome to the International Family Day Care Organisation’s (IFDCO) website, my name is Pam Dunn and I am President of this organisation. I am also vice president of Scottish Childminding Association, an organisation which I am proud to have been involved with for over 20 years.
We are delighted that in July 2015 we shall be hosting a joint Conference here, in Edinburgh. This will take place over a period of 4 days and will give the opportunity for attendance at seminars, to listen to speakers, for discussion and very importantly, networking.
I look forward to welcoming those of you who are able to attend either as a delegate, or to give a presentation or lead a workshop. I am sure that this will be a very enjoyable 4 days especially as you will be in the beautiful city of Edinburgh and should be able to explore it and perhaps the surrounding areas.
IFDCO, the International Family Day Care Organisation, was formed in 1986 and aims to maintain an international network of members involved in Family Day Care - referred to as childminding in the UK and Ireland - so as to facilitate the international exchange of information, ideas and methods for the development of Family Day Care.
IFDCO particularly aims to advance the education and training of Family Day Care providers and those associated with service provision by holding conferences, promoting and publishing research and other relevant information.
At the 2009 IFDCO conference in Cork a number of people interested in family day care/childminding research met together and decided to form an e-mail network to keep in touch and exchange information. Despite being such an important sector of early years childcare and education, there has been relatively little research done on family child care and the network is keen to try to change this and to keep up to date on any research that is being undertaken. Sue Owen will be providing a stall at the conference with a small exhibit on the history of IFDCO and has arranged for a few members of the Researchers Network to meet in the Networking area over the lunch break on July 23rd. Other delegates with an interest in research are welcome to join this meeting.
We have a range of sponsorship opportunities to suit your aims and budget:
